Eivør and Support Elinborg at the Scala in Ludwigsburg on 17.10.2022

As a fan of Iceland and the Faroe Islands, I am not unfamiliar with the music and so I was pleased to hear that Eivør is touring Europe again. Eivør is an artist perfectly attuned to the wild vicissitudes of nature. Born and raised in Syðrugøta (population 453), a tiny community on one of the northern Faroe Islands, the singer-songwriter grew up surrounded by a rugged, windswept landscape and the North Atlantic, a harsh backdrop that, unsurprisingly, has had a major impact on her music. 8 pm Elinborg started her set with only a guitar in her luggage. In her native language she sang tender, beautifully romantic sounding ballads. She shone this evening with a strong extraordinary voice, which very much inspired the guests. You could hear that in the applause of the visitors. Suddenly it became very dark, mystical and Eivør with her band came on stage. She also had a guitar, bass guitar and shaman drum with her for tonight. With her singing she creates a very touching, melancholic atmosphere. Her voice is extraordinary and very characteristic, which really touched everyone very much.

She sang well-known songs like Salt and Let it Come and other songs from the album “Live In Tórshavn”. Then suddenly Elinborg came back on stage and they both sang “Rain” at the top of their lungs. It was really a dreamlike duet. But also their shaman drum was used several times. Of course, the enthusiastic audience loudly demanded an encore, which they got with “Trøllabundin” and “Falling Free”. Here surely not only I had a tear in my eye. It was really a wonderful very intense evening, which will remain unforgotten.   At this point a thank you to the location staff of the Scala, who brought Eivør back to Ludwigsburg and also to a.s.s.
