NER\OGRIS have inked a multi-album deal with Dependent Records. The newly-founded German dark electro duo will release their debut album via the label in early 2023.

NER\OGRIS comment: “At the beginning of this year, the amazing lyrics and vocals contributed by Tino C. spontaneously turned an instrumental solo project of mine into a new album and a band,” keyboarder Kain (aka Kai N.) explains. “It seems as if this was always meant to be. Two creative individuals and two artistic approaches have met at a musical point. This wasn’t planned in any way, but it just happened. Musical understanding and an excellent chemistry resulted in something complete and new. Contrasts drew a picture. Music and words interacted. Ner\Ogris were born.”

The singer adds: “Just a few days passed between the sending of our demo and the label’s enthusiastic reply”, Tinoc (alias Tino C.) completes the duo’s origin story. “Although, we are of course very proud of our songs and very much believe in them, we were still happily surprised about how quickly Dependent jumped onto our material. It feels great that our self-assessment was quite on track. Our debut album will soon be released on the label. We are currently working on an artwork that does justice to the sound of our songs. Watch this space for more news coming soon!”

Stefan Herwig welcomes the band to Dependent: “Once I received the demo, I just had to sign the duo on the spot”, the Dependent director enthuses. “When it comes to stylistic aspects, there is currently not much groundbreaking happening within the dark electro scene in my humble opinion. Yet Ner\Ogris have a clever way to combine great songwriting, interesting innovations, and class. This combines excellently with a brilliant sense for amazing artworks. Welcome to the family, Nero\Gris!

NER\OGRIS were born out of a chance meeting. Kai N. had originally just planned and conceived a purely instrumental project. The Keyboarder and electronic musician is especially well known among old school fans for his work with dark wave, EMB, industrial, and splatter house outfit LES BERRTAS.

When fronter Tino C. from Saxonian EBM insider-hot-news AMNISTIA, who was asked for a small contribution, unexpectedly delivered vocals and lyrics for all those tracks in record time, Kai was immediately compelled to change tack and turn his project into a new full-length and to continue as a duo. NER\OGRIS had thus come into existence fully ready to conquer the world.

The name NER\OGRIS is among other layers a play on the Spanish words “negro” (“black”) and gris (“gray”), which should be seen as a clear pointer towards the musical direction that the duo is intent to take.
